I have a strange problem. The city water pressure is 53 psi but the flow is at 2.4 gl / min. Want to replace the line in from the street but the entire block is classified as a low pressure zone. A house one block over from me has 80 psi and a reducer on it to decrease the water hammer problem. My next door neighbor has 53 psi and about 5 gl/min with a new line in about 15 years ago.My question is Can I put in a storage tank (55 gal plastic barrel) with a pump to pressurize the house? after that what can i use to make the pump stop when the barrel is empty? If any one has any ideas I would really like to hear them. I have thought about using a pressure tank but the cost is prohibitive at this time.Thanks
I agree, your paying for the water, the least they can do is make it right for you and your neighbors. Trust me, they don't run a deficit with the money they rake in selling water.
If you were serious about the tank and pump, it can be done, but the 55 gal tank is a bit small.
Can I use a 55 gl barrel with no pressure part to it? How do I stop the pump when the barrel is dry?
If you want to increase your flow, you need both a storage tank (larger than 55 gallons) and a pressure tank... call your city and have it fixed, then write a letter to the newspaper, then write a letter to the corporation commision.
Putting in a pump and tank with all the controls that make it work will cost you close to a thousand dollars unless you want to do it with junk. And if you do it with junk, you will be redoing it every year or less.
Stand up for what's right. Go after the crooks that are stealing from you by selling you water that isn't up to standards.
