Im going to drop a new post so it's easier to read, rather than strolling through the origional one I dropped earlier...I hope that's Alright!
I'm following your guys's reccomendation and going to end up buying a submersible 1hp pump...SO!
Here's my Dilema.
I'm watching this : "WELLSUB" , SOLD BY GRUNDFOS, 1 HP 25GPM, MODEL 25SC10-7, 7 STAGE , 2 WIRE 230 VOLT SUBMERSIBLE WATER WELL PUMP . GET ALL THE INFO. AT .http://www.us.grundfos.com/web/download.nsf/DownloadViewOne/23CD4C9F330DC81D88257117005BFF21?OpenDocument
on Ebay...I realize that it's only a 2 wire (not sure of the difference or not other than one is a 3 wire and requires a switch which I really dont need since I have a 115v and 220v outlet right @ the pump head) But I want to make sure BEFORE I spend the money on it and have it shipped to Colorado that it will be something that will work. I was advised it has a shut off head @ 210'...So Im thinking it will push enough water out for what I need...
My question again (back to my last post) Would it matter if the top of the pump is exposed (as in not completely in the water) or is that not a concern that I need to worry about?
Secondly - When I get back to Greely this evening, I'll Drop a weight and string down to see how deep my water is and I'll post it up in here as soon as I'm done...I just want to be sure that it's going to work before I spend a couple hundred on it...
Whats your oppinion?

So now the question is... should I buy a pump that will put out 50 GPM when I can't even submerse it fully in the water?

That is the most expensive pump you can buy and being a 25 gpm in that shallow of a well, it shouldn't take more than about 5 seconds to draw that well down around the inlet to the pump and allow it to run dry. That's one of the worse things you can do to a pump.
Like I've said many times before, a 1/2hp 10 gallon per minute sub is the biggest thing I would put in a well like yours, and I wouldn't guarantee that it won't draw that well down.
By the way, I don't know where your doing your shopping, but I do sell pumps. My 1/2hp 10 gpm Submersible Pump is $414.76 plus shipping. But I wouldn't guarantee the pump knowing your situation.

After reading these, I think I'm just going to stick with ther origional plan and have the well company come out...they're going to drill our well deeper so that I can put a submersible pump into the ground and they are going to re-case it to a 6" pipe. Last woord from them is we have an underground reservoir at about 40' so that's where they are aiming for....hopefully they will get it done and I won't have to harass ya'll too much longer!

| Maybe by "underground reservoir" they mean that there is an open cavity down 40' in his area with good water. If so, I would think they would have to be extremely familiar with your exact area. Dont know about Co., but we have them here in certain places, but they are hit and miss. We mostly have enough water here that it doesn't matter if you hit one or not. I wish there wasnt any of them. Always fun to be drilling a mudded hole to set casing in and hit a big cavity and lose all your circulation. Can make for a long day |
