well #1 46 ft deep jet pump- will only build up to around 25psi tried many things except the well itself / even tried changing pumps no help. then tried to get 2nd well working (only used some times for watering grass it is a shallow well only builds to 30 psi. the reason for the 2nd is I wanted to have water while I inspected the deep well . it is a 2" galv. with i believe is 1 or 1 1/4 plastic pipe inside after reading here and other places I believe i have to pull the plastic pipe. How do I do that? Will it break? if it does what do i do then? Here is some history deep well orig pump goulds jl70n? when I had problems a few years ago I bought a sears and replaced gould found that the goulds was filled w rust / the sears made too much noise cleaned the goulds and put it back in and it worked find . when I took it out again had some build up of rust , but much less than last time .pu the sears back in and acting just like goulds . Te shallow well hasnt been use for 2 years and has a myers pump( not sure if it ever worked ( Picked it up on curb when next town went to town supplied water to replace mine that I didnt drain and cracked in winter. The deep well has to get fixed . ( I called the well people who put this in for previous owner(26 years ago) and they refused too come out They remember putting it in and accessabilty to well location is difficult to get equipment to.If and when I have too replace the well I figure I will have to do it myself. I will try to pull the plastic pipe after first hearing from people who have done it . thanks

There is a big difference between pulling a shallow well pipe and pulling a deep well pipe. If the well only has one pipe heading to the pump, it's probably a shallow well. If it has two, chances are you won't be able to move the pipe because of the jet on the end of it. They are extremely hard to pull and usually require a pump hoist.

still need help. The well to pull the pipe is a 2 pipe Jet pump(we will call it Pump #1) 46 ft deep 2inch galv pipe with a 1 inch? plastic inside. How do i pull the interior plastic pipe without breaking it ?
Update on pump#2 though I pulled apart the shallow well pump (one Pipe) and cleaned the impeller and some interior rust and that well now gets 60psi at the pump which is 90 ft from house and down a hill 29 ft vertically. works well at pump location on 38psi off 58 psi air bladder set @35psi. but at sprinkler in front of house 130 plus feet away and 32 feet higher than pump will trickle for about 3 minutes before kicks in and works fine while pump is running. |

You said it's a 2" with a two pipe jet. It's actually a single pipe jet and if someone put it in with plastic pipe, you will probably never see it again. All you can do is grab it with whatever you can and start pulling. You can't turn plastic pipe to break the jet loose, so pulling is the only option. And stand back when it lets go!

| update- pump #1 deepwell jet tried jacking up plastic pipe(6times) but threads on plastic pipe give out-raised or stretched pipe 6 inches but went right back to original height when threads gave out. Then i rigged up my air compressor and blew air down both the suction and then the return pipe got a lot of brown scale color water did this to it was cleared. was able to get 42psi (tried both pumps both get 42psi) I shocked the well 2x with bleach. set well up for 18 cutin 38 cutout air bag 16. all was well for 2 weeks . then pump continues to run only makes 35 psi lowered my cutout to stop it running all day. next I wrote this update. |

Two inch wells are a pain. I know I worked on them for a lot of years. You may be getting a hole in the casing. That would explain the drop in pressure. But if that is the case, your pump would be coming on shortly after turning off because of the hole.

if system holds pressure when pump isnt running but wont build over 35 or so, then its a clogged jet. whoever installed it never planned on working on it again. i would probably try to beat it down a couple inches before i pulled on it. sometimes if you can just get them loose from where it is, you can get it out. you will probably either get it out or break it and ruin the well., but you gotta do something, because it always gets worse, never better.
if you do happen to get it out, re-install with steel drop pipe! |
